Electric Vehicle Charge Point – Osprey Leisure Centre

now has an Electric Vehicle Charge Point installed for users of Electric Vehicles. This was paid for under the Dorset Business Travel Network Scheme which is an initiative set up and supported by Dorset, Poole, and Bournemouth local authorities to help businesses develop a travel action plan focussed on the staff commute.

The grants are funded by the “Sustainable Access to Employment” LSTF using Central Government funding which aims to help businesses who want to encourage employees, customers and visitors to travel more sustainably.

With the rise in pure electric and hybrid electric vehicles, businesses such as Osprey Leisure Centre need to provide a facility for owners and users of these vehicles to allow them to top up while on site.

Electric Vehicle drivers use apps such as Zap Map –

to locate charging points and plan their travel routes. Businesses that have charge points often gain business by providing this facility on site such as hotels, restaurants and of course leisure centres.

The Rolec unit installed operates via a token which can be purchased at the Osprey Leisure Centre reception. One hours charge and parking is just £1. The unit was installed by Futurum on Poundbury who are an approved government charge point installer. Futurum have installed dozens of domestic and commercial units across the South West.
