We were pleased today to hand over a cheque for £711.30 to Julia’s House Children’s Hospice following another successful 2 Club Golf Challenge last week at Wessex Golf Centre.
The event was organised by our Sales and Marketing Director, Mark Blunden for the second year running to raise funds for this well known Children’s hospice based near Poole in Dorset.

Those taking part are challenged to play the 9 holes of Wessex Golf Centre in Weymouth with just 2 clubs and no putter. 35 golfers and hackers took part on what was a bright but windy day. Further funds were raised at the 6th hole

challenge which was more difficult than usual due to the swirling breeze. There was also a follow up curry night at The Balti House in Commercial Road, Weymouth where more money was added to the pot during the raffle and prize giving. Winners of best scores, Terry Hawkins (non handicapper) From Advantage Digital Print and Steve Hanks (full handicap) both generously donated their prize money the funds raised.

Hannah Robinson from Julia’s House fund Community Fundraising team said, ‘That’s a fantastic amount. Well done to all involved who took part for what was a very enjoyable event’ .

Organiser, Mark Blunden said he hoped that other similar events would be started and rolled out to other clubs to raise funds for the existing hospice in Dorset and the new one being finished in Wiltshire.
About Julia’s House Children’s Hospice
Julia’s house offer regular respite sessions at their hospice in Corfe Mullen, Dorset, and in families’ own homes in Dorset and Wiltshire. They also run events for siblings and mums and dads – and support the whole family.
Their respite care means so much to parents who are looking after a very sick child 24 hours a day. It gives them time out with their partners, their other children or simply a chance to catch up with some day-to-day tasks, safe in the knowledge their child is being looked after by people they know and trust.
Julia’s House nurses and carers provide life-changing support for parents and their children both in the hospice and in their own homes. They are there year-round and in a crisis, offering emergency respite and overnight care. They are also there when the worst happens, offering emotional and practical support at the end of a child’s life.
