A team of 3 from Futurum have recently completed our first overseas installation in Kumasi, Ghana this week installing an Eco-Angus Biomass Boiler to provide heat to a log drying kiln.
This 130 kW kiln provides hot water to feed a thermal store which in turn provides heat to the kiln. We have installed many of these in the UK for similar project but this is the first overseas unit to be installed by Futurum.

John Scott, Rob Gaston and apprentice Rory Skitt took just over a week working with a team from the factory and other contractors in over 40 degrees of heat to help complete this project which also provides employment for a number of locals in Kumasi. One of the biggest challenges that the workers faced during the installation was the country’s lack of infrastructure, where the supply chain and logistics are not to the same high standard as they are in Great Britain. The country’s infrastructure is however developing, meaning that should they be required to go back they should find it easier.

CEO John Scott has years of experience working in such parts of the world where resourcefulness is key to completing a project on time earned during this 24 years in the British Army where he held the rank of Sergeant Major, REME.
Mr Scott said not only had the trip been an enjoyable experience but the company was committed to expanding and providing its services overseas. He added ‘the client was very pleased with the finished installation and our teams commitment to complete this project on time and to budget despite the difficult conditions’.
He said: “We were very pleased to be commissioned to complete this installation.
We hope that this is the first of many outside of the UK as we expand the business here and abroad in the next year.”
